Why did I decide to write this, and why now?
Over the years, I’ve met so many brilliant Sales Engineers across Asia—talented, driven individuals who often find themselves navigating complex markets with little guidance. When I first started, there were countless books about sales, and many about technology—but almost none that spoke to the Sales Engineer, the person who stands right at the intersection of both.
When I took on my first regional role, I quickly realized how different things were across APAC—different cultures, time zones, communication styles, and customer expectations. I learned many lessons the hard way, and I often wished there was a guide to help shorten that learning curve. So, I decided to write the book I wish I had when I started—one built from experience, stories, and lessons from the field.
What It’s About—and Who It’s For
It combines practical frameworks, regional insights, and personal stories to help you:
- Navigate cultural differences across Asia-Pacific
- Build stronger alignment with your sales teams and customers
- Lead impactful demos, POCs, and technical evaluations
- Manage remote teams and scale performance across regions
- Transition from individual contributor to people leader with confidence
This isn’t a theoretical playbook—it’s a field guide born out of real conversations, customer meetings, late-night proposals, and lessons learned the hard way.
Highlights Inside the Book
Inside the handbook, you’ll find:
- The APAC SE Performance Wheel – a practical framework to measure and develop performance.
- Stories from the Field – real experiences that bring lessons to life, from running POCs in Tokyo to coaching new SEs in Manila.
- Leadership Reflections – what it takes to lead with empathy and drive across diverse cultures.
- Tools and Templates – checklists, troubleshooting guides, and playbooks that you can use immediately.
- Modern Frameworks – insights on MEDPIC, value-based selling, and outcome-driven engagement.
It’s not just about doing the job—it’s about building a meaningful career and making an impact across borders.
